cpanel php5 & mysql5 support

Hello everyone.

I am trying to find out if i can use both php5 & mysql5 using cpanel ?
is it stable and supported by cpanel ?

MySQL 5.x is still in RC stages anyway. I wouldn't really expect cPanel to support MySQL 5.x until it's been Generally Available for a few months and tested.

PHP 5.0.4 is currently available and I have been using it without problems thus far with cPanel.

WHM > Software > Update Apache - I'm sure you'll be fine from there!

Heard around that php 4.4.0 and 5.04 is a major difference in compatiblity with software. Is this true? Is it safe to go 5.04 without conflicting?

My impression of the situation is that many (most?) scripts should work fine with both versions - developers have had over a year to make their scripts work, after all. Even so, when I finally decide to upgrade I'm going to give my customers several weeks notice.

This all depends on the script. Unfortunately, many do not have support for php5 in yet, sadly. If the script is properly written though, it won't cause any problems at all.

PHP 5.0.5 is now supported by Cpanel by the way

PHP5 is a painless transition...theres only a few non-backwards compatible things, and those are rather easy to solve. The PHP team pulled out all stops on this one to make the transition seamless. My clients now enjoy PHP5, and none of them had any trouble with their software after updating.

MySQL 5 has some LEFT JOIN syntax changes, so some scripts may break such as Invision Power Board......

Can you please give some examples of what would break the script and how a typical break can be resolved? I know that may be a bit broad, depending on the script(s) but is there a particular qiuck fix for php 5 to make the older scripts compatible?
