    Default cPanel redirects question

Sorry for the complete noob question here, but I was wondering if the cPanel Redirects button serves the same function as an Apache mod_rewrite, in order to make my URL's more SEO friendly.

    Yes, this functionality uses mod_rewrite.

So by choosing permentant, and then entering in a new URL in the redirect field, this will alter my .htaccess file so I can clean up my URLs?

Ermm, I thought it used mod_alias? This is the .htaccess directive it generates for me:
    Code:
    RedirectMatch permanent ^/$ http://www.heliohost.org/intro.html
So by choosing permentant, and then entering in a new URL in the redirect field, this will alter my .htaccess file so I can clean up my URLs?
You'll need to be more specific. What do you mean by clean up your URLs?
