Post cPanel Server Suite for Windows Server 2008

I have signed up for the beta and read the features list but it doesn't look like there are any "windows" function besides MSSQL.

I think it would be a good idea for the community to list the features that they would like to see in the windows version of cPanel.

Here is my list of essentials:
    • Exchange 2003/2007 Support
    • Sharepoint Support
    • VPN Support (i.e. users can VPN to log into a secure website or exchange)

    Crazy Ideas:
    • Remote Desktop Users (would require some stock security templates to lock down accounts)
    • VPN Drive Mapping
    • LDAP / Active Directory integration (pull users from customers server)

I've already requested we get some kind of interim forum here to at least kick start the chatter on W2k8 Cpanel but I think we have to wait for the formal Windows Cpanel support forum/website.

With a launch date of March it makes sense to start talking about it now so people who have been waiting for cPanel to finish the product before opening up a windows offering can start making plans.

I think this is going to be a good revenue booster for cPanel and it would not hurt them to start dedicated some pre-sales resources to the project now.

Things wont be finalized until cPanel Server Suite enters the beta stage in December. Once it enters beta, we do plan on having a forum set up dedicated to this specific product. However, as everything is in a state of flux at the moment, there isn't much of a point of having a forum which would essentially be dedicated to speculation.

However, I will say that we do intend to use Active Directory with cPanel Server Suite for Microsoft Windows Server(R) 2008.

At this time, I'm not aware of any plans to support Microsoft Exchange(R) in the initial release. However, given the strong demand for it, Microsoft Exchange may become supported perhaps by the second version.

Ok, then that means we should not consider using the "web" edition of W2k8. I know with W2k3 we do not have AD on the "Web" edition. You have to buy the normal full server, which is more expensive.
