Hello
Having now battled a few shopping carts to see what they could do I thought it worth mentioning the relative usefulness of them - from a near-idiot's perspective - seeing as Agora is installed in cPanel. (Can't recall if OSCommerce was initially or not.)
OSCommerce is old-school, filled with hundreds of tables; customising it has the potential to be a nightmare. Installation was a bit tricky but achievable. Had a good support forum, but could see me spending far too much time making use of it.
CubeCart looked promising but just would not @#$%! install - seemed to be a common complaint.
Agora, pre-installed but god is it ugly. Could be customised to rectify this but the support forum wasn't as good as some of the others. Think it was css based, not certain on that.
ZenCart, installed quite easily and is css-based so is much easier to customise and the Admin area is much more comprehensive than some of the others. More can be done before having to dive in to editing php files. Good help forum too.
So, from a cPanel (via a web host) customer's point of view, ZenCart might be worth offering as one of those pre-installed bonuses (Found lots of those, thanks - should be even more fun when I figure out what some of the other ones do.) as it's a hell of a lot more friendly than some of the other options and has a more modern design structure. Just a thought, as a lot of cPanel users aren't computer nerds (use that term in a kind way) and just want to get on with their deluded web-based business idea and not spend hours (days) trying to install the basic nuts and bolts of their shopping cart.
Cheers
Southlander
