    Default cPanel SSL notes are self conflicting...

    This note is in the private key section:
    * It is recommended that you upload the Certificate (.crt) file first so it can be matched with the Key (.key) file.

    and this note is in the Certificates (CRT) section:
    * You must generate or upload a key before you can generate any certificates.

    Which *note is correct?

    If you purchased SSL:
    1. generate private key (KEY);
    2. generate certificate signing request (CSR);
    3. paste generated certificate (CRT) to appropriate field.

    I did not purchase it, it came with the cPanel on my server space. Would i need to purchase something additional?

    cPanel certificates are self-signed and therefore browsers (e-mail, FTP clients) will pop error when connecting. I would suggest you to buy a trusted certificate, e.g. from www.ev1server.net - they have pretty cheap ones.

    If you don't care browser warnings, you can use self-signed certificate that comes with cPanel. But I don't know exact steps to fix problems with it.
