Exclamation Cpanel update (CURRENT 10.4.0-C160) no longer shows zones

    Hi

I have updated a few of my servers (trustix) to the latest CURRENT release of cpanel.
    WHM 10.3.1 cPanel 10.4.0-C160
    Trustix i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

When you now click on "Edit a DNS Zone", there are no longer any DNS records listed. On the command line the ZONES are still present and the DNS in named is fine. They DNS is works perfectly.

What I have found if that any new zones created are now put under /VAR/NAMED, all the old zones were created under /VAR/NAMED/MASTER

If I move one of the old zones to /VAR/NAMED and changed named.conf to reflect this, it shows up in the interface fine.

I cant believe they missed his in testing.
    I have submitted a bug http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2896

    Thanks very much

I'm seeing this problem on my RedHat 9 box. Interestigly, I've just upgraded to the same Cpanel release on my CentOS 4 box too but the problem doesn't occur there.

    Hrm :/

Running /scripts/fixrndc -fv should resolve this issue. If not, then open a support ticket with us.

Even retro grading to stable or release doesnt fix it

I have one site that lost its entire zone file and had a byte size of 0 suddenly as well, any ideas ??

What is the reason that zone files now seem to need to be in /etc/ rather than /var/named?

Cpanelben's suggestion of running /scripts/fixrndc -fv fixed my problem, though it seemed to move all my zone files to /etc/

Zone files should be located in /var/named by default (/etc/namedb on FreeBSD). However, the default location can be overridden by altering the directory option in /etc/named.conf (/etc/namedb/named.conf on FreeBSD). After making such a change, you'll need to update the location of your pre-existing zone files by running /scripts/fixrndc -fv ("v" is for verbose output and is optional). If this is not working properly on your system, then please us know ASAP. I would prefer for you to open a support ticket to my attention referencing bug 2896: http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2896

I've altered the update process to update the zone file location automatically upon upgrade to the latest builds. This should prevent this issue (zone files not listed) from occurring.
