My understanding is that Cpanel is set up with special locations for custom config files and add-on modules so that they don't get overwritten on cpanel updates.

But, I've never seen any documentation on how this is setup and where to put things so that they stick across cpanel updates.

Can someone explain this or point me to some current documentation?
