I do not know the answer to your question, but I would not mess the Cpanel and WHM ports. They run as seperate processes from Apache on their own ports. (If Apache is down for some reason, you can still access WHM.)
I think a better solution for you would be www.cpanelproxy.net
www.cpanelproxy.net is absolutely the way to go.
It sends cpanel/WHM/webmail via port 80 instead of via 2082 etc, so it will go through any firewall (port 80 is the only sensible choice). The customer accesses cpanel via http://cpanel.domain.com/ instead of http://domain.com/cpanel and it then goes through a proxy which gateways port 80 through to port 2082 etc as needed.
