    Default cPanel/WHM Update

    My Server frozen by the update...
    what could be the reason for that ?

    PHP version file is up to date
    Doing a manual update...
    Cpanel updates are coming from layer2.cpanel.net
    findutils passes checksum
    net-tools passes checksum
    tcp_wrappers passes checksum
    SENT ipcheck email
    send to CONTACTEMAIL (3) [2]
    Checking /dev/sda....OK
    x - creating lock directory
    x - SKIPPING /usr/local/lib/php.ini (file already exists)
    Using Mysql4
    proftpd is up to date (Sun Nov 30 02:23:58 2003)
    bandmin is up to date (Tue Apr 8 16:00:52 2003)
    chkservd is up to date (Thu Aug 19 20:05:17 2004)
    MySQL-server is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-embedded is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-client is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-devel is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-bench is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-shared is up to date (Sun May 16 05:00:43 2004)
    MySQL-shared-compat is up to date (Fri Jul 9 01:10:58 2004)
    portsentry is up to date (Wed Jan 30 03:02:40 2002)

    i've got the same thing, got further though, i'm down to 50%

    rsyncing backend scripts
    rsyncing addon themes
    rsyncing addon themes
    rsyncing addon scripts
    sync complete
    mysqlcleanup
    mysqlcleanup complete
    domlogsperm.....Done
    defpage.....Done
    apache.........Done
    conf.....Done

    this is urgent now, apache is down and has been for 20 minutes!!!

    Are you by chance hosted at The Planet / Server matrix? This is a known issue for them relating to their connectivity to the up2date server.

    server matrix yeah! d'oh

    got it done by killing the odd process here and there... is there any other i can update reliably from my server then?

    If all you want to do is update cpanel, the run upcp from shell and every time it freezes, hit ctrl-c. cPanel will still update fine, just the package checks won't occur.

    Login to orbit.theplanet.com, submit support ticket to them, and they will tweak your up2date config to use their up2date server.

    i have new this entry in de Logfile:

    Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
