    Unhappy cPanel won't install...

    Hi,

I've installed CentOS 4.2 x86_64 on a box with the exact same CD I installed another box with and keep on receiving the following error when trying to install cPanel :

    Code:
    [home]# sh latest
    Creating directory installd
    Verifying archive integrity... All good.
    Uncompressing cplyr1-cPanel...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................
            ____ _
        ___| _ \ __ _ _ __ ___| |
       / __| |_) / _` | '_ \ / _ \ |
      | (__| __/ (_| | | | | __/ |
       \___|_| \__,_|_| |_|\___|_|

         Installer Version 10.5.0

Your operating system's rpm update method (yum) was not able to locate the glibc package. This is an indication of an improper setup. You must correct this error before you can proceed.
I've taken the exact same steps to install the OS. The hardware is the same, everything's the same... still cPanel wo'nt install...

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

    I did a :

    Code:
    yum install
to test yum and it worked without any problems...
Is this a bug in the x86_64 version?
If so, please solve it asap.

    Thanks.

If you cannot get an install to work, then you should log a ticket with cPanel through your license provider. x86_64 isn't really ready for production servers, especially with cPanel on it as there are many different issues that it causes. It would be a much better idea to reinstall a 32bit OS.

As to the problem, try installing the glibc packages yourself using yum. Also, do be sure that you've installed the yum GnuPG KEY otherwise it won't allow rpm installations.
