Same, restart happened auto magically, and that was the end of that. Happened twice in a row, on the third night however, it didn't happen.
You still getting this error?
Tonight (12/08/07) it happened and automatically restarted. On 12/03/07 it failed to restart either automatically or when I restarted from the command line. I got this error:
And found this (slightly older) forum thread: http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=56976Code:cpsrvd dead but pid file exists
which linked this bug: http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=4564

I did that and it seemed to work. I restarted cpanel several times, seemed to be fine:Code:In /etc/init.d/cpanel change status cpsrvd to status cpsrvd-ssl Soon there will be a total change to cpanel start up but this is a patch untill then.
No problems until tonight, although this time it restarted itself successfully. Each time immediately after upcp runs. Hopefully it's just a random anomaly that will go away.Code:root 32137 0.0 1.0 21224 10428 pts/0 S 23:09 0:00 cpsrvd - waiting for connections root 32245 0.0 0.0 5968 628 pts/0 S+ 23:13 0:00 grep cpsrvd

Based on that, my two errors may just have been cpsrvd taking it's time restarting or trying to restart before upcp wanted it to?
Again - I haven't seen it happen on my servers more than those two times but I've got this page bookmarked for the event it should happen.
Thanks MaraBlue
