CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage Overload

When I go to server status and CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage, there is always one customer who shows this:

Top Process %CPU 110 /usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/exes/_vti_bin/shtml.exe


Could somebody shed some light on how I can rectify this situation?

I ran into somthing like this a few days ago, where a customer was using 97% of the CPU, throughout the day. I don't know if this is the best way to resolve it, but I found that by suspending and re-activating the account, the process stopped.

If the site is consuming too much resources, you have to let it go instead of risking your other customers.

Maybe its a runaway script? Check the processes and figure that out.

The user mysql is using up cpu like this:

19728 mysql 15 0 84596 9716 2448 S 100 0.5 1:15.68 mysqld

The automatic kill is done, but continual mysql is taking up cpu more that it should.

Any idea?

hi,
you should check what are the mysql processes that are running, you can either use whm and click show mysql processes, or use the phpmyadmin then list the processes.

It should show you which user is running the most busy database.

There have been issues where non-updated forum scripts are exploited and use up a lot of mysql resources for not a good reason.

if you can use shell, it should also show you how many active mysql connections are their and what they are doing.

I was able to identify who caused the problem and found out that he used bad scripts. Now it seems stable as normal.
