Crazy size Drive Warning /dev/sda3 (/usr) is 83% full

Can somebody explain what is going on? I deleted some log files and I could decrease the occupied space but look:

du -h --max-depth=1 /usr
8.0K /usr/games
12K /usr/etc
13M /usr/libexec
8.0K /usr/X11R6
125M /usr/bin
500M /usr/lib
1.7M /usr/kerberos
1.8G /usr/local
116K /usr/man
26M /usr/include
16K /usr/lost+found
68K /usr/src
89M /usr/sbin
609M /usr/share
3.1G /usr


According to this /usr is 3.1GB now when I check with df command I got

/dev/sda3 29753588 20163088 8054688 72% /usr

/usr partition has asigned 29GB and is telling me that is using 20GB ??? where are those other 17gb coming from??

I did a httpd restart and all got fixed. Weird cause apache logs file were only 600mb.

If apache still had the deleted files open then they would still count towards the disk usage.
