Default Creation of addon domain leads to subdomain addition

So sorry, I have no idea how to properly title this.

    I'm confused about a process.

Let's say my primary domain is first.com. I have two addon domains, second.com and third.com.

Why, when I create an addon domain, do I get the following sub domains automatically created?

    Current Sub-Domains
    second.first.com (public_html/second)
    third.first.com (public_html/third)

Attempts to remove the subs presents me with:

    SubDomain Removal
Sorry, the subdomain second cannot be removed because it is linked to the addon domain second.com. You must first remove the addon domain.
Have I setup the addon domains incorrectly somehow?

    cPanel Build 11.18.2-RELEASE 21613
    Theme cPanel X v2.6.0
    cPanel Pro 1.0 (RC1)

    Default Sorry, one more thing

The part in bold is also confusing:

Upon success creation of an addon domain I receive:

    Addon Domain Maintenance

    Addon Domain Additions

Bind reloading on c03 using rndc zone: [first.com] The subdomain, second.first.com has been added.

Using nameservers with the following IPs: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Created DNS entry for second.com
Adding ownership on second.com to the user USERNAME second.com was successfully parked on top of second.first.com

second.com has been setup. It can be accessed via the subdomain second.first.com.
FTP access has been granted with the user name second@first.com and the password PASSWORD.
It was my assumption (scary word) that an addon domain would sit as an entirely different entity under the primary account domain. Rather here it appears if they are actually combined.

They are set up correctly. This is just the way that addon domains work through cPanel. You can access the accounts using second.com or second.first.com or first.com/second. To have the domains completely separate you would need to set them up as separate accounts with their own cPanel.

Yes, I never noticed any issues with usability. It just seems like an odd way to do things. lol Oh well, at least it works. Thanks for your reply.
