    Question Cron <@ls05> run-parts /etc/cron.daily

    /etc/cron.daily/logrotate:

error: Ignoring httpd.rpmorig, because of .rpmorig ending

Have been getting this for a while now, or at least just noticed it recently... Wonder where I can fix whatever is causing this to occur. Looking in the /var/log/httpd directory does'nt help because there are no logs or other files there at all.

Do not know if this is a serious problem or not. Everything seems to be working just fine.

    Thank You for any input,

    Hi,

It seems like you have configured logrotate to rotate a directory. Which contains httpd.rpmorig file. Since that file does not need to be rotated, logrotate ignore the file and send the warning to you by email. You can ignore the message or if you don't want to get the message anymore look into your logrotate configuration.

    Regards,

    Bright

    Thanks BrightAdmin,

A bit more to add to the above. After digging a bit I found a file /etc/logrotate.d/httpd.rpmorig dated 25-Feb-2003 and another file /etc/logrotate.d/httpd dated 27-Nov-2003

I am guessing that a process is simply reading the content of each of these files as directives on how and where to rotate log files. No matter what the file contents are...

They appear to be identical. Can the .rmporig version of this file simply be deleted.

    Thanks,
    -greg
