Cron runs more then once

I'm having a rather serious problem that just started recently. For some reason the main midnight cron script for my site runs more then once. Some days it might run 10 times, others just once like its suppose to.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to look to try and figure out why this is running so much?

What is the cron entry and what does the script do? Do you have any error log for the site anywhere like in /home/username/public_html/error_log location?

Next, do you have the cron emailing you output when it has errors?
