we're planning to upgrade to 4.4.6 as we only have a few customers who actually use PHP on this server.

I would advise you run 5.2.1, 4 has been nothing but trouble in recent months and doesnt seem to be maintained as often as 5

yes, I agree. I only have a few accounts that actual use PHP, so I think it'll be a safe bet to use 4.4.6

haven't had any problems w/4.4.4 for quiet some time, but figured it maybe wise to upgrade. PHP is so prone to bugs, flaws and security holes ... who knows.

    A side note ....
Just wondering, when upgrade via easyapache, we currently have the following PHP setup:
    Code:
    php -v
    PHP 4.4.4 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6 (cli) (built: Nov 7 2006 16:26:01)
Built specifically for Linux Tech Networks clients
Copyright (c) 1997-2004 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2004 Zend Technologies
with the ionCube PHP Loader v3.1.29, Copyright (c) 2002-2007, by ionCube Ltd., and
with Zend Extension Manager v1.0.10, Copyright (c) 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies
with Zend Optimizer v3.0.1, Copyright (c) 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies
will I need to update Zend also or is that automatically update(if needed) ??

    thx's

PHP 5 has been out for almost 3 years and what very few apps there were that
had any problems have been updated or fixed a long, long, long time ago!

It's been a good 2 years since I've run into any application anywhere that
legitimately had any compatibility problems with PHP 5 and your client
scripts should run perfectly fine without any modifications whatsoever!

We run PHP 5 exclusively across our entire hosting network and have
never had a single complaint from anyone and we are talking about
thousands upon thousands of customers too!

The newest version in PHP 4 is version 4.4.6 and anyone still using the old ancient
PHP 4 series should upgrade to this version ASAP as some very serious security flaws
were found in PHP v4.4.4 and v4.4.5 that this release addresses.

The newest version for PHP 5 is 5.2.1 and is very stable and even more secure.

It should be noted that PHP 5.2.2 is getting ready to be released anytime now
so keep a close eye out on the www.php.net web site for release announcements.
