Arrow Custom rules: Upload .cf files to .spamassasin folder works?

If you add custom spamassassin rules .cf files to the .spamassassin folder, is that enough to make those be processed? I mean dropping files there causes those to work or those files will be there ignored?

Is there many good rules (like those from SARE) out there and I'd love to use those. (I'm just a common user with a common hosting account.

    Default RE: SA custom rules

    Hi

My custom rules work great in the global spamassassin directory here: /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf ... and I have written or modified many rules with great success.

It looks like custom rules would also work in an individual user's .spamassassin directory, but I haven't been able to make that work.

Please let me know if you do, as it would come in quite handy to be able to write user-specific SA rulesets.

    All the best -- Bill

    Hi Bill!

/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf I don't have such a directory, seems like the only existant folder in my hosting account is .spamassassin

I guess that depends of kind of installation to users with few privileges, as they say rules can cause downgrade of performance.

Seems like all I can modify is user_prefs file!

Am I lost or still have hope to take advantage of custom rules sets?

If you are hosting a Web site, then you don't have root access to the server. You need to contact your hosting provider.

Yes, you can and add all the dirctives there.

Default local rules - I don't think so

Actually, based on the information contained here: perldoc Mail::SpamAssassin::Conf
it appears that you can change scoring only for already installed rulesets.

I have been unsuccessful with any new rulesets added here, unfortunately.
