Default damn advertisers dont get returns. what to do?

    Hi,

I have some advertisers trying to email our hosted domains and they don't accept bounces. I have 3 questions:
    1. What should I tell them? (they are answering our phone calls but tell me that they can not handle the returns)
    2. What should I do to make exim deliver the emails to /dev/null?
    3. What can I do to reject them from emailing us? (currently have a pretty much of custom configs in exim and even I am kind of getting lost! in it)
    Awaiting answers.

    PS: Those damn advertisers are:
    • duyuru@ad.neotech.com.tr
    • duyuru@ad.index.com.tr
    • bilgi@ad.neteks.com.tr

And one more strange thing... Those waiting emails are returning (at least try to return to sender) with contents saying "user@localdomain.dom account quota full etc. bla bla". Why does exim accept those mail in at first place?

I am using exim 4.52 maildir

Set the default address to :fail: instead of :blackhole: and exim will reject the messages.

it is infact set to :fail: for all domains.
and those emails are incoming for quota-full accounts.

I also have no idea why Exim 4.52 (Maildir) lets those msgs in!..

Did you check the box "Discard emails for users who have exceeded their quota instead of keeping them in the queue." in the exim configuration manager?

Yep. I previously had. If you read my previous post, I clearly said that:

Simply put, Exim does that because it is required to to remain RFC compliant. To be RFC compliant, the originator should be informed if a delivery fails for whatever reason. Many people choose to ignore that requirement (e.g. using :blackhole: breaks the RFC) however, it's not exim's job to do so if an account is overquota. If you want to do that, you'll have to change the exim configuration to do that and for that you need to go over to www.exim.org and start reading

Interesting. I've never had those types of e-mails before. My customers must be good at keeping their accounts under quota...RFC compliance...who'da thought.

Indeed. The real problem there is that email accounts shouldn't be left overquota. If they are, and presumably therefore , they aren't being used, then remove them from the system.
