Default Default account setup provides anonymous FTP...

Is there any way to set cpanel to create accounts by default without anonymous ftp access?

I\'ve removed the anonymous ftp section of cpanel, but anonymous access is setup by default by WHM so I have to edit proftpd.conf manually everytime an account is setup.

Remove anonymous ftp from proftpd.conf and everything is fine.

    No more worries ;-)

It\'s different if you want your customers to have a choice. I wouldn\'t recommend anonymous access.

yeah, I\'ve already removed the default anoymous account, but when a new account is created, that account is by default setup to allow anonymous ftp access. To disable it I have to comment out the anonymous directive for every virtualhost entry in proftpd.conf

I know what you mean but you can try it yourself. The anonymous ftp login will not work at all because you removed it from proftpd.conf

I suggest switching to pure-ftp and turning of Anonymous ftp acces via WHM. Pure-ftp is much faster then proftp and uses less system resources.

If I remember correctly, you can disable it globally under WHM.

I've disabled the setting for anonymous ftp in WHM, but when a reseller creates a user account, it still gets anonymous ftp access. Do resellers have to make some configuration change too, or is this just standard behaviour of WHM? And can I someway disable anonymous ftp access by default ?

    Greetings,

    Suraj
