Default default email address not working

    Hello,

I am using cpanel and default address is set to fail:no such user here, but problem is that I am not able to receive emails for the emails accounts which are already exists. If the default address is changed to cpanel username I am able to receive emails but unwanted emails also received which I don't want.

In short How can I set default address in cpanel so that I can receive emails sent to the email accounts created and no email should be received for the user which does not exist.

When you are setting the default address to :fail: and delivering E-Mail to a real E-Mail address on the server, what bounceback error are you receiving or what errors are reported in the Exim log at /var/log/exim_mainlog?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Actually there was no email address created I am using default address(email account for cpanel username), now its sorted out, I have created email account cpanelusername@domain.com and set defaule address to fail:no such user here. Now I am able to receive emails to default address but no email for the account which is not created.

But will you guide me, if it is necessary to create email account like cpanelusername@domain.com, is there any way to sort it out.

Setting the default to :fail: means any email sent to an account not explicitly created will fail.

    Hello Big_Bull,

As you have set the default to :fail: means any email sent to an non existing account will fail directly from the server. Hence, you will not receive an email which has sent at non existing email account.

As an alternative, you can set email forwarder for a particular email account so you can receive emails at your default email account. In this case, you can set email forwarder as:

cpanelusername@domain.com -> To your Default email account

So you will receive email at your default email account.

    Thanks,
