Default Default score for Spam Assassin

    Hi,

We've enabled SpamAssassin globally and I've noticed that the default score is 5 which is a little low, I would rather it be set to say 8 to give the end user the chance to reduce it if they need to.

Is there a way to change this setting globally? If not, why not cpanel team?

    Thanks.

Try putting the following into /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf :

    Code:
    required_score 8

Thanks Mike. Will that override customers custom settings in their cpanel?

If you have SpamAssassin enabled globally in Exim Configuration Editor within WHM, I do not believe /home/<accountname>/.spamassassin/user_prefs is used and thus changing the value in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf would work.

However, if you do not have spamassassin enabled globally in Exim Configurator within WHM and instead you just enable spamassassin on a per-domain basis from that customer's control panel, then you'd have to modify the /home/<accountname>/.spamassassin/user_prefs for each domain.

Also, I think that if you modify /usr/share/spamassassin/user_prefs.template so that it includes required_score 8, then new accounts that have spamassassin set up on them individually will get that default score.
