    Question Directory Index

Good morning. I am fairly new to linux & cpanel. I would like to find out if there is a way to turn directory indexes to off, server wide? I know you can do it via control panel by selecting each directory. However, I would like it to be OFF by default.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Best Regards,
    Brian S

Sure. Check out the Apache docs, and then look in your httpd.conf - which you will have to edit using the command line, connecting with SSH.

    This will work was:

    To turn off directory indexing:

    SSH to the server

    cd /home

    pico .htaccess

    Options -Indexes

    ctrl-o

    ctrl-x
