Disabling Awstats for specific users

Is there any way to disable awstats for specific users?

You could create a feature list for those users unchecking AwStats then apply it to the accounts you don't want to have access, I don't know if that would prevent the stats from being generated though, They wouldn't have access to the Awstats button in Cpanel though.

I think that would still create the stats though - I really need the feature so that stats aren't being created anymore, to reduce server load.

Don't all the cpanel stat programs, including Webalyzer, etc., have the same pitfall? Or no?

In WHM > Cpanel > addon modules there is a Stats configure script, It looks like it will allow the stats to not be run when set up correctly, Although I haven't tried it yet.
