Disabling SMTP

I run a webserver with newest stable cpanel on fedora core 2.
at tthis moment i have alot of problems with spam comming from my server. now the best way to stop it is to completly disable SMTP, but if i stop exim ... i cant receive any mail .. .so thats not an option.

how can i configure cpanel so that the smtp server stopts but i can receive mail ????

(i dont want to limit smtp or something .. just stop it completly)

Block outgoing port 25 in iptables would do that. That way incoming email will arrive but exim will never send out any email.

Surely it would be better to secure your server properly and to fix the vulnerabilities that you have on the server that are being exploited. Today it may be spam, tomoorow your server could be used as part of a DDOS or root compromised.

You'll also need to block other SMTP ports, just in case you are using them, such as 26 or 1000. It is very improtant to secure your server now.
