DNS entry for customer to forward FTP to home IP?

I have a customer who would like to use there domain that is hosted on my server but have port 21 ( FTP) forwarded to his home IP. Im sure this can be done but could someone explain the DNS entry I have to make. A newbie walk through would be great for this.

you cant forward ports to another server with DNS. I suggest making a sub-domain and adding his home IP to that sub-domain.

Then sub.domain.com will point to his home server.

so how would I add his home IP to the sub domain? Is that done on his part or in WHM?

This is done in WHM, under DNS settings.

Edit his DNS Zone, and then at the bottom of the edit page add a new entry called for example myhome, then enter the IP on the left side, and make sure its an 'A' record. Then hit save and all will be good.

ok I did what you said and Im still having trouble.

I have entered it like in the pic and have entered it as sed.domainname.com and that doesnt work also.

Should this update as soon as I make it or would it take a little bit like other DNS records?

That looks fine, i would use the ftp as a subdomain. have you restart the named.

restart how? What do you mean?

if you are not the owner for the box, ask the cpanel server owner to restart the named. if you are root for the server. In the WHM there is restart name server option. Try clicking on it .
