Default DNS MASTER system is depreciated

    Hi All:

I got an old problem popping up again. Whenever I add a new account, I get the following warning:

Warning the DNS MASTER system is depreciated
This now happening on 2 servers. I have clustering enabled and the dns records are added fine, but the warning is annoying and I can't figure out what is causing it? Any ideas or help?

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi Mike:

I am running cPanel 10.6.0-R55. Let me know if you find out anything. I was hoping to get some help here.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Do you have an IP for the DNS Master setting in the WHM's "Edit Setup"?

The IP in the dns master setting is used only for the dns master/slave configuration. Having an IP there, even if you're using dns clustering, indicates to the software that you wish to use the dns master/slave functionality. Remove the IP and the messages will cease.

I get the error message even though there is no IP address there.

I get the same wartnings when I try to setup a enw account in WHM:

Warning the DNS MASTER system is depreciated
and will not be supported in new releases.
You should switch to using clustering for DNS.

    And the domains don't resolve!

Any ideas how to fix this?

It started happening after upgrading to WHM 10.6.0 cPanel 10.8.0-S59.

    Thanks.

Me too. Just starting see this warning message now (haven't seen it for ages after we went to clustering).

If you do not have anything configured for DNSMASTER in /etc/wwwacct.conf and you're seeing a message regarding the DNS MASTER system being deprecated, then please submit a support ticket referencing this forum thread.

    Thanks

I do not have anything configured for DNSMASTER in /etc/wwwacct.conf, but I only saw this message (Warning the DNS MASTER system is depreciated) once, so I'll submit a ticked it it reoccurs.

    Thanks for your support.

Just checking: are you referring to the 'Master Nameserver' setting in

    WHM > Basic cPanel/WHM Setup

    Thanks.
