DNS Role on clustering

I am migrating one server shortly, but i am little confused with dns role in cluster.

I added old server and new server as trusted cluster, however i am unsure which one would run DNS Role as
"syncronise changes" and which one would run as standalone.

In whm of new server i've chosen DNS role as syncronize do i need to choose standalone on old box ?

can anyone correct me.

My goal would be to migrate the accounts and then drop the old server.

If you are planning on migrating over to the new server then I would *NOT* setup DNS clustering as you will add a lot more headaches and additional otherwise unnecessary steps to migrate your accounts.

So how did you go about this? I am planning to do the same soon.

New server... move all from old to new.
Drop old.

Old server has DNS running with ns1. and ns2. pointing to the same server but with IP1 and IP2.

I want to have this same on the new server.

Having the old server running is NOT an option, it is from 2004 and was a budget solution back then.
