    Default Dns stops working randomly.

    Hello,

I seem to have a problem with my named service on my server because i have times where customers contact me and we can't access their site through domain name but we can via ip address. and when i restart the dns service it starts working again.. Does anyone have a dns log path i can look at to see where the problem is. and does this service suppose to auto restart?

    Howdy,

    Lots of information for you:

First off setup monitoring WHM. You already have it, put it to work.

Main >> Service Configuration >> Service Manager

    or

    https://<yourserverIP>:2087/scripts/srvmng

Tell it to restart if it's down too. This way you'll get an email warning and you can go back and look at it later.

As for logging, that is going to depend on your server OS and nameserver, but most of the time checkout /var/log/messages.

    Hope that all helps.

Also, try adding PRM (Process resource manager), and SIM (System Integrity Manager), and it will monitor DNS and other applications for you

I suggest you to try to find the root cause of why your DNS service is failing rather than adding applications to auto-restart them.

If your server has been configured properly there should not be any service crashing issues.
