    Unhappy DNS tutorial / help

Are their any good DNS tutorials out their. It seems that I can never get a complete picture of DNS entries. Can someone please list out all of the DNS entries a default cpanel server should have to work correctly along with other ideas or ways to achieve the same results. I thought I understood DNS but frankly I think my DNS zone is a disaster. After looking at it I am positive it is a disaster. Any help would be great it seems I have read tons of info but nothing definitive for me to understand.

Plus it seems that a customer can't receive emails that are sent by the server but I have not faced this problem yet. Starting with my stuff first.

    My server name is qualityhost1
    Server ip 69.65.29.27
My site is on a dedicated IP 69.65.29.28
Two name servers that are shared IP address
    NS1 69.65.29.24
    NS2 69.65.29.26

    Code:
    Qualityhostinginc.com.	86400	IN	SOA	ns1.qualityhostinginc.com.	xx.qualityhostinginc.com.
    							2011061003 Serial Number
    							86400 Refresh
    							7200 Retry
    							3600000 Expire
    							86400 Minimum TTL
    qualityhostinginc.com.	86400	IN	NS	ns1.qualityhostinginc.com.
    qualityhostinginc.com. 86400	IN	NS	ns2.qualityhostinginc.com.

Again thanks for any and all help. Please if you not sure don't answer, no offense meant just want confident decisions to be made.

    Hello

You can view the standard DNS zone templates via:

"WHM >> DNS Functions >> Edit Zone Templates"

If you want to reset a DNS Zone to the default template, you can use:

"WHM >> DNS Functions >> Reset a DNS Zone"

    Thank you.

Ok so thats good to know how to reset the DNS zone. However that does not address a concern of mine. I like to learn from my mistakes. Honestly if i redid the DNS zone I am not sure what is considered a good practice. So I was hoping experts could lay out things like mail zones. Or what is the minimum for a name server, how should the left colum be organized. The types of records and how to use those records for web hosting / cpanel. Maybe this is something the world does not want to share and people must learn by their own mistakes. I was hoping to avoid that.LOL please help would be appreciated.

it seems that i cannot find any great examples

You are likely to have better luck using a search engine to look for in-depth documentation on DNS Zones. I did one search for "Bind DNS Zones explained" on Google and there were several useful results that included the examples you are seeking.

    Thank you.
