Default DNS zones missing from WHM

    Hey all,

I have this strange issue this morning which I have not yet been able to resolve. All zone files seem to be missing when using the edit zone function in Web Host Manager. I do have root to the server and have checked the following as well as issued the following commands:

grep OWNER /var/cpanel/users/* (to ensure ownership of files are set correctly)
ls /var/named (to ensure zone files exist)
    /scripts/rebuildcpusers

Im sure I am missing something simple but cant seem to figure it out. No changes have been made to the server recently as this is a shared production server.

    Please Assist.

Additionally, new users are not added to /etc/passwd nor are their home directories setup

    root@biz75 [~]# grep mattha5 /etc/passwd
    root@biz75 [~]#

Well, something has definitely updated which resulted in both the issues. I would recommend you to have someone look into the server especially your webhosting company.

    I fixed it, yay!

    root@biz70 [/usr/local/cpanel/logs]# tail error_log
    2010-01-10 17:33:13 invalid [dnsadmin-ssl] Invalid lockfile /etc/sysconfig/named.lock detected (zero size) [UID]: 0 [MTIME]: 1262812408 at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/SafeFile.pm line 223

    root@biz70 [/usr/local/cpanel/logs]# rm -f /etc/sysconfig/named.lock

    = fixed
