Default DOMAIN CONFLICT: * owned by nobody - the copy failed!

    Hi All,

I terminated an account and then attempted to recreate it from last night's backup. I am getting this error:

    Code:
    Restoring hantscou

    Extracting Domain....Done
DOMAIN CONFLICT: * owned by nobody - the copy failed! Account Restore Failed... Restore failed.
Anyone know what causes this? Kind of need this site back up....

The only thing I can think of, from what you pasted into the ticket, is that perhaps the site had a wildcard subdomain defined. This is not a common error that we see very often, so I recommend submitting a ticket so we can log into the server and try to fix this for you.

I just got this today as well

Just put in a ticket, hopefully they can figure it out.

This wouldn't be the same error message if the wildcard (*) isn't being noted in it. Was the error message about "* owned by nobody" or about another domain that isn't a wildcard being owned by the system?

I was trying to restore a backup and got this message.

Not sure about the options you gave.

If the message didn't indicate * in it (the wildcard), it would be a different issue. Normally, a domain will be owned by nobody or the system if someone manually added the domain in WHM without indicating which account the domain belongs to at the time in WHM > Add a DNS zone area.
