    Default Domains on shared hosting?

Is there a general rule to determine how many domains you can host on a server? I realize this probably depends on the server configuration and the resources a particular domain may use. I guess for this purpose if we can maybe assume the following about the server:

    Server
    Ethernet: 100Mb Primary Ethernet Card
Hard Drive: 7200 HDD RPM 250 GB Hard Drive
Hard Drive: 7200 HDD RPM 250 GB Hard Drive
    Memory: 4 GB Memory
    Processor: 1 #Processors
    Processor Fan: Processor Fan
RAID: SATA RAID Controller (RAID 1)

What other variables would need to be factored?
    Thanks

How about the speed of the processor?

I really all depends on the size of the sites. I have about 10 sites and one big site. My big site uses 20 times more resources than my other sites put together.

well if you only have one CPU, I wouldn't put more than 200 SMALL sites on it. It also depends on the applications you run on. The above is for the basics, cpanel/whm, php, apache, ftp, etc. The best advice is to monitor your server and don't oversell because it will cause problems. Your server load should remain constantly under 1 or even .05

Also, remember that park domains use up cpu resources as well.
