    Default Downgrading from EDGE

    Is it possible?

I upgraded to EDGE on one of our beta servers for testing purposes and have noticed that cpanel 11 is a resource hog, the cpu/memory usage has increased A LOT. So I am wondering if downgrading from EDGE will break the installation, should we just do a clean cpanel install instead?

The CPU not as much but the memory usage has definitely increased.

Once you upgrade to EDGE, the safest method of downgrading is to do a clean install. Sometimes you can safely downgrade, but it varies according to a plethora of variables that changes for every server.

I've upgraded and downgraded multiple times on my CentOS 4 box... The trick is to downgrade by changing your upgrade settings to the version you want and then doing. /scripts/upcp in SSH and then doing /scripts/upcp --force immediatly after the last one.

The 1st time will downgrade most everything and the 2nd time will make sure you have all of your icons / skins / files correct.

Not a full proof plan but it's always worked for me.... Don't kill me if it doesn't work for you tho hehe.

In this case downgrading from cpanel 11 to cpanel 10 is not possible?

To clarify my earlier statement, one can always downgrade from any branch of cpanel to a lower branch (EDGE -> CURRENT for example). However, functionality gained at the higher level, is not always removed by a forced downgrade. This can cause unintended consequences during day-to-day usage of your server. Thus my recommendation to do a clean install when downgrading from EDGE.
