dump proccess -> high server loads!

Hi,
Every moring I have the dump proccess running and the /home directory (~8GB now) zipped via gzip (and other directories as well). The server loads get 14.00-15.00 or higher during these proccesses! I'm wondering what's going to be when /home is 30-40GB. The server will crash! Is anything I can do for that?

You're just asking for trouble gziping anything larger than say 2 GB. I'd find a different solution. Maybe gzip each users folder individually, or somehow break it up into smaller chunks.
