Question Duplicate an account to a new account on the SAME server?

I want to clone an account that's on my server (so that I can test things out on the test site before I try it out on the real site) to another account on the same server. I have plenty of domain names available, so that's not an issue.

I see options to copy an account from another server, but I can't use this option since the usernames are the same.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    No response yet?

Yes, I did search, but I didn't find anything that inspired confidence...

    Best answer I know:

    1. Backup Account

    2. Modify account and change username and domain

    3. Create new account (original name)

    4. Restore backup you just made to new account at old name.

Kludge - but should work fine.

Make sure to restart apache - just in case.

If server is real busy, stop exim cppop, apache and service manager before starting.

I did not reply earlier as I thought someone might have a better idea.

That's probably the simplest way. You could also create a backup tarball using /scripts/pkgacct then expand it and search and replace with a new username and domain and the tarball it manually and then restorepkg it - bit messy though.
