Lightbulb E-mail Trapped on Server - can't download it via Outlook

    Hi There,

I have one account "name.lastname@domain.com" that behaves strangly.

All e-mail sent to it are trapped on server - they are visible by WebMail, however, when I try to download them via Outlook - really nothing happens - Outlooks checks account - everything's OK but it does not download them.

    I tried to resintall /exim4, tried /fixpop, tried /mailperm, /fixeverything.

    Anything else. Please help!

Default RE: E-mail Trapped on Server - can

    Dear cretu,

There is no problem with the mail server as you are able to view it in webmail. The problem is with your mail client. The vulnerability can be eliminated by installing the patch available at

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/critical/patch9.htm

I hope this might help you to solve your problem.

    Regards,

I have an account simular to this. Actually a few of them. It's weird. Sometimes its mail going "out" of the server, and other times, Its mail coming into the server. I have tried the mail permissions, and this has no changes. I tried to telnet to mail (port 110), and 'sometimes' it comes up with a blank screen, you hit any key... and it closes the telnet window.
Reboot the server, no changes. Reboot pop & exim, reboot the server. Might work, might not. If it works, it will work forever. But when you reboot, you might find that a few accounts are not working properly.

    Weird.

I'm not good at explaining problems. But here is my story. :-)

At this point the server will respond with the connection to the POP server, for example, my output looks like this: Bailey

Just to note on my above email ... When I have trouble sending my mail, I see my email listed in the Mail Queue (in WHM) --- but it's not going anywhere. It will stay there for 2 hours, then for no reason... send.

    Arhh!. :-)

you wouldn't happen to have Mailscanner installed on the server, would you?

This happens every now and then since I installed MailSanner and I have to manually send mail out of queue.

    Just wondering!

Yeah, I do have it installed?. Starting to see a pattern.. huh? You know what, it makes sense. I never even thought of Mailscanner before. But it kinda makes since.

Any ideas how to fix it. (For good!) :-) My head is sore from beating it against the desk.

We removed using MailScanner because of issues like this. It wasn't worth it.

The latest mailscanner downloads don't seem to work, but the very first one Nick released works very well for me. I am using that on both of my servers without problems.

    Default Our problem

We have a problem with being able to access and recieve email though outlook also.

After reading this thread this is what i get

    telnet klooki.net 110

    Escape character is '^]'.
    +OK POP3 xeon.klooki.co.uk v2001.78rh server ready

    user staff@klooki.net

+OK User name accepted, password please
    pass xxxxxx

    -ERR Bad login

    This is server wide. Also

    ps -ax

there is no cppop listening on 110

So what the heck happened....everything was fine a few days ago....now it doesnt look like cppop is on the server at all!

It seems that is running. Check if the service is running. Not a process, the service.

And try restart the cpop service

Nope there is no Cppop service. unlike my other cpanel server it shows up but not on this server.

restarting cppop does not make any difference. it states it is restarting the service but it still does not show.

    Hmm, not according to http://www.securemac.com/

Do you also require all connecting clients to use Mac OS X? :P

I guess this really should be a seperate topic (and it may be 15 already), but are hosts that do not provide server level email AV protection seeing it being requested?

For those that do provide protection, aren't you worried about being held liable for bad email that gets through?
