    Default easyapache fails

Hi, I would really appreciate any help.

I have upgraded to the latest stable from the previous stable (cpanel 6). Then I tried to run easyapache to enable gd (option 4) , but easyapache failed. I used fixheaders too, then retried easyapache, but it keeps failing like that :

    Installing build environment: /usr/lib/php/build/
    Installing header files: /usr/include/php/
    Installing helper programs: /usr/bin/
    program: phpize
    program: php-config
    program: phpextdist

    httpd: [ != HTTP/1..]
httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin.

I have tried all options except advanced with easyapache, but it still fails. Any advice?

    * I have also rebooted with nopositive results

The problem seems to be this one :

[crit] (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to port 80

these are the last lines in apache's error_log . Can anybody advice me?

it won't work. I said that I've even rebooted!!!

For me the solution was to reinstall Zend and then kill and restart apache. httpd.conf was also corrupted and ftpd.conf was corrupted too.I wonder how easyapache managed to do all that. If ftp server doesn't work too, search what occupies port 21 and kill it...it should be another instance of proftpd. As you can see it's a good chaos. All that from easyapache, which never finished on a server of mine. At least now apache works and all looks ok.

About the 80 port occupied I had to stop portsentry too...then I killed and restarted apache and then I have restarted portsentry.

A good mess , right? All this because of easyapache on a non busy, non modified cpanel server. Good!!!! I can't immagine the moment that I'll use next time easyapache...

    * Install zend for 4.3.0 even if you have php 4.3.1

this was the solution that worked for me...it doesn't mean that it will work for you too, so be careful. I'm saying this because I don't know what other factors could have messed up my server like that. I blame easyapache because I know for sure, that everything happened after easyapache failed for the first time.
