easyapache httpd failed

Everytime i run easyapache, i get the error as follows:

httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin.

I checked the error_logs and found the following:

[Sun Jun 8 07:39:38 2003] [notice] child pid 1180 exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /usr/local/apache
[Sun Jun 8 07:39:38 2003] [notice] child pid 1179 exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /usr/local/apache
[Sun Jun 8 07:39:39 2003] [notice] child pid 1183 exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /usr/local/apache
[Sun Jun 8 07:39:39 2003] [notice] child pid 1182 exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /usr/local/apache
[Sun Jun 8 07:39:39 2003] [notice] child pid 1181 exit signal Segmentation fault (11), possible coredump in /usr/local/apache

If anyone has any idea how to fix this, please enlighten me on the same...

Did you check the /usr/local/apache folder. Sometimes a recompile will dump hundreds of core files in there and then run out of space. When that happens you need to delete all the "core" files out of the folder, restore your httpd.conf.bak... (after you back it up of course) because in all likeihood the current httpd.conf is now blank and run easyapache again.

I've just had this happen to me.

Any ideas why the httpd.conf file would go blank like that?

That happenes to the best of us after a easyapache update. The update does not start apache properly. What you need to do is shut apache down completely, wait about 15 seconds then restart it. Dont just restart it. After that you will not see those lovely messages anymore due to the update.

Ok, I used option 6 to install curl and curl ssl.
Apache wouldn't restart.
Things failed.

So, I re-ran the script using option 5, as I had used before. Apache restarts but then keeps failing. I check the log and it has the:

error from earlier.

I delete all the core files and it says everything is up and yet still.. the sites dont work! My httpd.conf file is it's normal size and I am baffled as to what to do.

Need help ASAP.
