Default Email in Cpanel: How to COMPLETELY redirect all email?

    Hi,

For sending email from MAIL.MYDOMAIN.COM (which I need) it seems I need to have an email account in cpanel account. This is because I need the smtp settings.

Other than this requirement, I'm keen on NOT receiving any email through my pop3 or imap, because I want it all forwarded to Gmail. If I have only an "email forward" then I don't get the smtp settings.

My problem is that Email Forward in cpanel only sends a *copy* to gmail. Is there a way of forwarding the email and NOT receiving/retaining it in my pop3?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

That's a tricky one, because one may think to set up a mail rule to simply discard mail. Unfortunately, mail rules are processed before forwarding takes place. As a result, if you were to discard all mail, no mail would ever be forwarded.

Typically what I do in this scenario is create a mail account with a small quota (1 mb) and only use that account for sending mail. I would set my reply-to address in my mail client or the script that is sending the mail to the address that is forwarded. This way, any legit mail would go to the correct address. Anything that account would receive (e.g. spam) would quickly fill up the small mailbox and after that, it will stop accepting all new mail. It's a kludge, but it works.

You could setup Google Apps for your domain through google and then setup a rule to download all your domains email into gmail using POP3.

You can follow the directions on the Google Apps site for WHM/Cpanel to make the changes.

This is a trick too. No need to setup forward mail account.

News info: Gmail can now set fake From: for multiaccount access. Very good...

Maybe we don't need my own domain POP3/SMTP.
