    Default email errors

    Hello,

    When I want to create an default catch-all adres in cpanel I get the following error;

    All unrouted mail is now going to: info@serpentine.nl
    Fatal! Write Failure: /etc/valiases/serpentine.nl. Ignore any messages of success this can only result in failure!

    What is wrong here?

    Thank you,
    Domenico

    Check the ownership and permissions on the file. It should be owned by the user (for whatever reason it sometimes gets set to root) and the permissions should be 644.

    Hmmm, strange. That directory is allmost empty and the file it wants to write there doesn\'t exist.

    Can a cpanel developer respond to this one please?

    You can create the file, assign the appropriate permissions and then add the catchall - the system will then be able to find it when it needs to write to it.

    You could just run /scripts/mailperm

    I\'ve done that from time to time when this crops up, and it\'s about 50-50. Now I just usually fix it manually due to the inconsistency of the script - no big deal, since it takes about ten seconds, tops, to fix.
