    Default email issues

All of a sudden I'm getting the following error while trying to check email via pop3:
"Sorry cannot find new root device"

Also, I'm not able to send out emails via the web. I'm not sure what log file to check for this.

I do see this in a log file:
"Exim configuration error in line 520 of /etc/exim.conf: group mail was not found"

    thanks for any help.

    for the second error,

"Exim configuration error in line 520 of /etc/exim.conf: group mail was not found"

check your /etc/group file for mail group

    it should say
    Code:
    grep mail /etc/group

    mail:x:12:mail,postfix,nagios
    mailnull:x:47:
    mailman:x:503:mailman
    mailtrap:x:32173:
for the pop error check the log /var/log/maillog thats where pop logs all the logs

    hope that helps

Try first giving /scripts/eximup --force, and possible /scripts/upcp --force.

    thanks for the suggestions folks.

it looks like the pop3 is working. I needed to chmod 644 /etc/protocols.

However, seems like when i try to send email via a webpage using a script, it doesn't work.

any idea where to look for this problem?

    Default check mail log

    Hi,

check the exim log file at /var/log/exim_mainlog. It will show the mail sending status, errors if any..
