    Default Email not getting delivered

    I have a user that can not send email from their office. exim_mainlog has the following logs when he sends an email.

    2006-03-22 15:15:44 no host name found for IP address 65.103.63.116
    2006-03-22 15:15:45 1FMAgZ-0006h7-F0 <= smith@midlandcom.com H=(jason) [65.103.63.116] P=esmtp S=16226

    The ip of his service provider does not have a ptr record. however he is popping emails so he should be allowed to relay correct?

    Thanks for any insight;
    Wade

    Hello ,

    Check to make sure that a hostname is specified on the server that happens to be resolving to an Ip. Inorder for further help , let us know the entire log for the message ID

    So I am checking to make sure that

    1.) The server the is recieving the email has a hostname
    2.) There is a dns A entry for the servers ip that is the same as the hostname.
    3.) The hostname has an IP and a PTR record for that IP

    These steps are all satisfied.

    What log and what content from that log would you like to see?

    Thanks;
    Wade Arnold

    Hello Wade,

    Please setup a reverse DNS for the ip 65.103.63.116 as that is the issue. Let me know if you need more of assistance.

    That IP is the IP of the ISP of my customer. Do they need to have a prt record from their isp?

    Hello ,

    Some mail servers do require Reverse DNS for the mails to get through. Did you try sending mails using another ISP or connection ?
