Default Email: Temporary problem, please try again later

    Hello,

I'm currently experiencing a very strange email issue on one of my servers. Every single email account on the server works, except the email accounts for one client. He created a new email account, and it wouldn't work. He then tried connecting to it via telnet and gets the following error:

    telnet mail.domain.com 110
    Trying 11.22.33.44...
    Connected to domain.com.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    +OK Hello there.
    USER user@domain.com
    +OK Password required.
    PASS password
-ERR Temporary problem, please try again later
    Connection closed by foreign host.
Trying the exact same commands on another email account on the server works fine. Also, if he types in the wrong password then it gives him a password failed error. This suggests that the authentication process is working.

Also, web mail doesn't work for his account either. When logging in via SquirrelMail it says:

ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Steve.

Just read through that thread, I don't think that's the problem though. Email and SquirrelMail is working for every other account on the server, except for the email accounts that this one client creates. Any more ideas?

    Check the /home/$user/etc/$domain/ folder.

There should be a folder existing with the same name as the account (i.e john@test.com should have an existing folder /home/test/etc/test.com/john)

    Default Spaces on passwords

Check if the user password have no spaces on it.
    Apparently, it's not allowed.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Thanks,

I don't know what the space does in the password that causes this but whatever it was, it fixed my problem.
Luckily The past few days that I had come up with the error, I was notified about the email password for testing the account. I removed the space and everything seems to be fine now. I'm going to try it on the other accounts to see if it works on them as well.
