    how did you fix this?

    I dropped plesk because shit breaks,or becomes insecure without any timely updates or patches from the developers.

    Im now considering directAdmin if this sort of problem keeps popping up.

    Which version of Cpanel wre you using.

    Please Go to Main >> Server Setup >> Update Config and check if you have select the correct tree from the list

    Yup. I'd also recommend that you switch to the RELEASE tree which is recommended. STABLE stays too far behind and essentially becomes apparently more buggy than the other releases as time goes by.

    ditto. RELEASE tree did the trick. using manual RELEASE updates for now.
