/etc/valiases/ are being re-written automatically, hourly?? Help???

I have a PHP script that I use to update the valiases b/c I organize them in a database. The problem is that they are automatically being re-written at XX:01 on an hourly basis.

I assume CRON has something to do with this, but don't have any idea what's really going on. Can anyone help? Please? Some of my clients are getting upset.

Did you check the cron log?. If not check it first also check the cron tab, it will help you to solve this issue.

I believe it has something to do with

/etc/cron.hourly/aol.pl

This is the only thing I see running hourly? But I don't understand it except that its running the system command /scripts/fixvaliases

Where is the cron log?

/var/log/cron

Naturally, I would look there... but most of the files are always 0 empty... I think CPanel does something with them...

Well, since I assumed the /etc/cron.hourly/aol.pl was the problem, i just moved the file elsewhere... since I did that, it hasn't done any errors.

Anyone have a clue as to what that program was doing. It looked like it had somethiing to do with aol.com subscribers... but it was also running /scripts/fixvaliases and so I think it was that script that was making the changes to my /etc/valiases/ file.

That script has been mentioned before (/etc/cron.hourly/aol.pl) it is nothing at all to do with cPanel and must have been put their by your server provider for some reason. There's no need for it.
