    Default exim -- adding local_part_suffix

    Hello,

    I'm trying to tweak exim so that any email address can optionally add a +something and still go to the correct address (Sendmail has this functionality). IE, say you have one email, jim@mydomain.com.

    jim+stringa@mydomain.com would automatically go to jim@mydomain.com (no matter what stringa is).

    I found that local_part_suffix and local_part_suffix_optional can do this... but I have no idea where to add them in without breaking exim

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Warning!
    1. Haven't tried this. This comes from the heavy reading on exim that i have been doing in the last few days.
    2. Backups are your friend

    You got to add the lines:
    ---
    local_part_suffix = +*
    local_part_suffix_optional
    ---

    ... to the localuser router(comes just before the transports definitions). But this won't let your .forward files to work correctly. To let them work you got to add them to the userforward router.

    Psst. Do tell me if I need to read up exim a bit more.

    I added this to most of the routers (just localuser didn't work) and it appears to function. HOPEFULLY
