    Default Exim blocking e-mails

whenever someone tries to send me an e-mail with certain attachments, it's gets bounced back to them

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    trel@krahs-emag.com
This message has been rejected because it has
    a potentially executable attachment "Google.url"
This form of attachment has been used by
    recent viruses or other malware.
If you meant to send this file then please
package it up as a zip file and resend it.
and it's not conveinent to zip it because .url is the extension used when you use "File->Send->Link by e-mail" from internet explorer
and it blocks many other extensions, including exe.

Actually, its safer to block anything thats not a zip.
How ever I will check security settings to see if I can come up with anything.

    Actually, Found where it detects.
    /etc/antivirus.exim

Search ZIP then look for things to change, remember to make a backup incase.

    Thanks,

Only server admins can do this, sence its a global thing.

is there any way by which I can disable this check for one more selected domains. For these domains, I would like to receive mails with any extention.

WOW, Old post. I don't think it can be done domain wise. Since it is a global setting, how ever I will look around for you.

In the antivirus.exim, it use IF loop to check the extensions of attachment.

You can try to write somethings like:

    if($header_content-type:matches "........")
    and not($header_sender: contains "@xxxx.com" or $reply_address contains "@xxx.com") then
    fail text ....
    ....
    seen finish
    end if

to enable the filter for which is not for specific domain

Thanks for your time. I got that fixed that day itself.

just need to add this much there.

    if $message_headers: contains "@domain.com"
    then finish
    endif

    Cheers

This will disable check for inbound and outbound mails for this domain. If you need to bypass only incoming,

    $header_to: contains will do

Thanks for the great tip. Just 1 Q: Should it be

    then endif

    or

    seen endif?
