Exim and database connection problem

Dedicated server's owner is complaining about exim, giving this error:

DBI connect('eximstats:localhost','eximstats',...) failed: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 264 Can't Connect at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 267.

I have no clue where does it come from and how to repeat, but may be someone know what it is?

Try updating DBD:

/scripts/perlinstaller --force DBD::mysql

Is it normal message?

Warning: Cannot install DBD, don't know what it is.
Try the command

i /DBD/

to find objects with matching identifiers.
perlmod--Install done
