but it seems the big issue that is causing my problem is this line in the errors above:-

Fedora Core 3 is not yet supported, and its not on the list of suported OS's: http://www.cpanel.net

Thanks mostly to the SELinux implementation, its a pretty big job and I doub't well be seeing support for it any time very soon. I'd switch to a supported OS and try again

    damn, damn, damn
Is there nothing that can be done to just get exim working, as the error i am getting is very similar to other peoples issues with exim and fedora core 2 ???

Its the error:/unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libperl.so;41187927: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch" issue

some people think its something to do with Perl and symbolic linking ????

I'm sure if you battle it out you may get it working but think of it this way. Fedora is a constantly evolving OS. Its a development OS which creates the groundwork for redhats Enterprise OS. So the regular updates are bound to mess with something eventually even if you do get it running stable now. You'd be better off now and in the future asking for a currently supported OS. If RH Enterprise isn't an option, ask for CentOS 3.3 or 3.4. Its rebuilt from RHEL but without the price tag. Unless of course, you absolutely require fedora core. but keep in mind, that its very short life cycle means you will have to reload the box with a new core every 6 - 12 months. If you go enterprise, you'll get a good couple of years at least.

    Here's a suggestion;

    rpm -qa | grep exim

Next, I believe fedora3 comes with exim now, and it may already be installed. If thats the case, remove it if it is currently installed from fedora's repo, add it to your skip list in whichever client you use to update the system. Then run /scripts/upcp --force, keep an eye on this incase it starts asking you questions during the perl install.

I'm also using fedora core 3 and have problem with exim

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libperl.so;41ec3190: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch

chown: cannot access `/etc/exim.crt': No such file or directory
chown: cannot access `/etc/exim.key': No such file or directory

this is the main error i thinck
I've looked in /usr/lib/ but i didnt found libperl fule there maybe this is ther error source???

I'm also thinck that if "we" could give the install script another rpm build by "us" it could work fine??? does anyone try to did that???

I'm not expert in linux systems... but i have to configure exim for use with cpanel on fedora core3 so i'm realy need help.

Well, as Beau has said, you're trying to install cPanel on an unsupported OS, and one that should not be used (and is not intended) for production environments, so you're really stretching things - I certainly would not put customer web sites on any release of Fedora (esp sincel FC1 and any day now FC2 have been put out to pasture and support is basically winding down for them).

    That said:
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/lib/libperl.so;41ec32d9: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch
Did you allow FC3 to update perl at all after installing cPanel? If you did then that could well be part of the problem. I'd suggest:

Add to your /etc/yum.conf exclude list: perl*
Re-installing perl using the installer on layer.cpanel.net then run:
    /scripts/perlinstaller
    /scripts/rpmup

Keep running rpmup until it runs clean.

    Then try re-instaling exim4:

    /scripts/exim4 --latest

No i've updated FC3 before installing cpanle unless FC3 automaticly updates, but i belive its not. I've tryed to uninstall perl using rpm -e perl but its fails saying tha perl is needed for other process. I'm realy a beginner in using linuxlike systems in fact i'm just a web programer who use php so i'm now abit in linuxlike systems... But i'm realy have to make the system works because my company loose Administrator and we cant find it for week already... and our plans are going to be broken if i wount make exim work untill the feb 21... Damn Why we didn't payed for the support... So maybe if someone have time he(she) tells me how can i uninstall perl... i belive i can install it... Please

That is probably the problem then because you have perl whereas it should be perl* and upcp has run yum and perl modules have been updated when they should not be. I did explain how you can reinstall perl (you will not be able to remove the perl rpm).
